A little slow too start sorta...

I have a 01' 7.3 and my wife called and said that she feels like when she goes to crank the truck in the morning that for the past 2 days seems like a little slow to crank....wait to start light comes on, can hear fuel pump priming as should and when it turns over the tach starts to move like it should as well. She parks it for about 8 hours til she gets off work and then she says she feels like it happens then as well. The temps here the last few days been around 50 in the am and 78 roughly in the pm. The oil is still fairly new as I still have 2500 miles before I was gonna change it( 5000 mile interval). I drove it the other nite and sorta noticed this but had no problem with the start, truck had been sitting 2 days so just kinda left it at that.... I know to check the HPOP levels and oil levels and batterys and GPR and GP's any thing else you guys may can think.... Yes Rick(miller_feed) you will be getting a call this afternoon on this one....
I'm at work now and cant look at it right now but will be checking responses and letting you guys know what I find.... Thanks again Guys and Gals.....

Truck Has about 170k on it BTW, thought some may wanna know

Ron

Hey Ron. I had something like that happen to me a few weeks ago. I checked the batts with a meter and come to find out the clamps were not getting a good connection to the post. I used one of those battery cleaners on the post and connectors, never had a problem after that.

But I know how things happen to you, so it might be a little easer then dirty post.

Not funny at all Rick....I was thinking about that after I posted this that you had that problem and was gonna check that when I get home tonite... After I posted this I talked to her and she was talking bout running the orange cones by the construction entrance over... Just weird how this just started...and like I said it has no trouble cranking just kinda slower than before.

Check the connections on the batts and also check the starter connections. No telling what the cones hit under the truck.

If your terminals are corroding then your batteries may be going bad. Mine were corroding BAD and were gassing BAD and I had to replace them, now my truck turns over as if it knows if it doesn't start that it'll get it's oil pan kicked

lol, maybe a tire then, if I ever have to take off the oil pan it's going back on with aircraft gasket sealer!

I resealed mine (while on the truck, yes, it's possible) and used "the right stuff". That stuff never leaks, and usually when using it on oil pans, I have to mangle the crap outta the pan just to get the pan off, it's that strong. it's my "go to" sealant for anything I don't want leaking, EVER!
