Squealing brakes

When I got my truck I had to replace the rotors because they were warped. I had them turned before they were put on. The pad still had 50-60% left so I just reused them. The brakes work perfectly, but squeal horribly. I thought it would go away eventually, but 3 months later they still squeal. Is it because I reused the pads? Should I just take the calipers off and lubricate the moving parts?

So... you bought new rotors... and had them turned anyway? Why?

And there shouldn't be any problem with reusing the pads so long as they're in good enough condition to be used. My only guess would be that tiny pieces of shrapnel are embedded in the pads from the old rotors and that's causing the squeal. But that's only a guess.

Are they floating type calipers? If so then the only "moving parts" would be the pistons and it's not likely that they'd be in such poor shape as to cause a squeal. My guess is that the squeal is pad related it's just a question of how.

Try bending back the squeal tab and see if that does any good.

Yes you should have replaced the pads when you installed the freshly turned rotors. Plenty of meat left on them or not they where/are worn into the old rotors and glazed over. That is what is causing all the squealing, they can't "break in" because of the glazing so it will likely never stop. It might not be to late to just replace them now, try and scuff the rotors best you can when you put them on.

I guess due to the way the rotors are attached to the hubs, it's not likely they will seat true. They are turned to ensure that when they were mounted on the spindle that they would be rolling straight. It didn't cost me anything so I wasn't going to question it.

I guess I will get some new pads then.
