Morning Lisa. Managed to remember to plug mine in also last night. I wish I could plug it in here at work, she'll be very cranky when I leave tonight!

I hear ya there. I replaced all my GPs this spring so, mine starts pretty good. But cranky is the right word for it.

 

I made a pass down our lane last night, with the chute turned down wind, which then buried the truck nicely... Of course, the main drop was dead center on the hood and windshield... I tried getting it out, the tractor spins, and the tow strap broke, have to remember to throw the log chains on...

Last day of classes for the semester, woohoo! Just have finals next week, and finally, a break... been a rough one...

Glad it's friday. don't believe I can handle another day like yesterday. Even with double the recommended dose of anti gel in fuel bought in Council Bluffs the truck gelled up while driving yesterday. 7hrs later finally got it going again after adding 3 bottles of PS 911, 2 more large bottles of regular power service each to treat 250gallons (there was approx 200 gallons between the 2 tanks) and topping off with blended fuel from a different station.

 

Morning Rob. What are you using for anti-gel? I know last winter the fuel we were getting here in Omaha was terrible. It gelled up regardless of additive around -10. There were hundreds of diesels at the dealerships gelled up. I had to have mine towed home to thaw out. What a pain that was.

Man, this conversation brings back memories.

 

We are using PS. It's what the company sends us with the relay driver so it's what I use. My preference would be DK which is what I use in my PSD. I would say it was the reason I haven't gelled up in it yet but I also buy from a different station. In teh Semi the company restricts us to Pilot and Loves truck stops and the only one available on the route is the pilot in CB.

 

I used Stanadyne up til this year. I'm going to try the Ford stuff in my PSD and see how it goes, since I can get it for a discount from a buddy who works at Ford.

i have used the power service stuff when i worked at negus and werner.
but all the werner tractors are outfitted with the artic fox tank heaters. were they run
antifreeze in a tube in the bottom of the fuel tanks. it heats the fuel to prevent gelling. the biggest problem was the trailer brake lines freezing.

 

I can tell you I sure miss my series 60 detroit. Those things return enough fuel to the tanks that in the dead of winter the tanks would be warm to the touch.

these Volvo's are a PITA. HyVee has a lot of trouble with them too. They gell going down the road. And it's NOT the tanks it's the way the fuel line is run. to small of a line and exposed outside the frame rail.
