I was in the Navy, stationed at Naval Air Station Lemoore, I was an Aviation structural mech. I work at the Fort Calhoun Nuke station, just south of Blair, Ne. I work on all of the portable radiation monitoring equipment, and all of the personnel monitors also.

What about you, Lisa?

Interesting. I know right where Blair is. Spent a lot of time in Fremont.

So, what do they make you wear to protect yourself from possible radiation exposure?

I am a graphic designer/marketing coordinator/problem solver..I wear all kinds of hats. I am pretty burned out though, with what I do and I've only been at it for a few years. Recently put in my application for the police academy back in Denver, so we'll see what happens. Hopefully a "change in the weather" so to speak, for me in the next few years.

Their main purpose is just to keep contaminated material off of you. We still pick up dose (not much) but they do a good job of shielding stuff for us, so we don't get zapped!

Who cares about schools???

We have 300+ acres of corn left!!! Already took about the bottom sieve's on the combines lastnight to get that snow to fall through. Supposed to get down below 0 tomorrow. Lordy I hope so!

The stress meter broke about 8 days ago... lol.

I hear ya on that. I saw a good number of fields still out, That wind gets to going with what we have on the ground now, it will take a major thaw to get to it. When I dealt with that blizzard in South Dakota, we had been hit by early October snows that never went away until the following spring. Many fields were buried in snow up to the tassels..

Other than the depth, all the hype for the day is overblown, wasn't near as bad as portrayed. Other than snow plow drivers going 25 mph, and other people underdriving, it wasn't too bad. I realize slow is good, but like so many other things, too much of a good thing can be bad. Need to have a little speed to be able to keep going... 35-45 is generally good, if you need to go much less than that, you shouldn't be out anyway. I've dealt with way worse than this....

Well, judging by the snow stacked up on the truck, there's about a foot out there. Hard to tell though, the drifting is getting really bad. 2 or 3 foot on my front porch and I saw a plow go down the highway near our house and its already started to drift over.

Work canceled today so, I think I'll just sit in my pajamas and watch.

I'm sorry. Yes, after the snow moves out its supposed to get really cold. Hopefully that helps you out, if you can get around the foot or so of snow

School called with a two hour deleyed opening, our 8" snow storm is turning into flash flood warnings, it's raining real heavy now and the water doesn't have anywhere to go.
