Another Adrenaline Ordered

Yep -- figured I'd take the plunge. After looking at mine and seeing it drop into the 1800psi range at ~65% Duty Cycle, I decided to take advantage on this last day of the introductory rate price on it. Look forward to seeing the numbers when this is in...

I just delayed my injectors by another month or two with this purchase, but I figure this is THE last investment before they go in. I believe getting everything in order BEFORE they go in is a smart move. I think I decided on hybrids finally, too. I figure all these good stories about them mean they're worth the extra few hundred bucks. I'd already be spending over $1500, might as well do it up right...

Cool deal Joe. I know Roland is getting his chip back today and he will let us know how it goes. I hope you get some good numbers like Roland is.

Joe,

I don't know if you have ever removed and installed an HPOP before but I have done it 3 times and here are some tips. This seqence of HPOP Reservoir and Fuel Bowl removal and install differs from the Adrenaline and Ford shop manual instructions.

1. Remove the HPOP Reservoir before the Fuel Bowl. Makes it easier to get to the fuel line fittings and to get the drain valve loose from the drain tube. And make sure the reservoir is as empty as you can get it.

2. You don't have to remove the spider. There is room to get to the HPOP mounting bolts without doing so.

3. Just remove the connector on the IPR Coil. You can remove the nut, spacer and coil after the HPOP is out.

4. Stuff some rags down around the HPOP drive gear and use a magnetic tool to hold the drive gear bolt and washer so it doesn't fall down into the front cover.

5. Install Fuel Bowl before HPOP reservoir. Much easier to get the fuel drain back on the drain tube and with the fuel bowl loose you can move it slightly to line up the fuel line connections. More room to get to the fuel lines as well.

6. The instructions say to tighten the drive gear bolt to 95 lb/ft. If the engine turns over before you get to 95 lb/ft, mine did, you are good to go. This is what I was told by Bob Riley.

7. If you have new o-rings for the fuel drain valve do it while you have the fuel bowl out.

Being the smart guy you are you may have thought of these things already but thought I would post these tips anyway for any others who may be doing an HPOP R&R. I wish I knew this the first time I removed the HPOP.

Edit : It is also a good idea to have new parker fuel line sleeves, and an HPOP reservoir gasket. The Adrenaline comes with the HPOP mounting gasket, HPOP outlet fitting o-rings and an IPR mounting o-ring.

Hey Huck,

When you're ready to do an HPOP swap wander on out here to Arizona and I will lend you a hand. I can hold your beer with the other.
