So i removed mt HPOP yesterday to change the o-rings. The job wasnt to bad, i had to post a threead on here to get some help though. Thanks Clay. Anyway, when I first started it up it took like 10 seconds to fire which i expected since i drained the fuel. But i have started it about half a dozen times and it still doesnt fire over quickly like usual. It seems to be getting better, every tme it will fire a little faster but it is still not normal. Is this to be expected or do i ahve something wrong, like air in the fuel system or something that i need to bleed.
I changed my HPOP two weeks ago. It did take a little longer to "bust off" the first few times. It took two days of driving to work out the air and it to stabilize.
I re-sealed the HPOP on my boss's SD, and now it won't start. I don't see any leaks, I refilled the oil reservoir, I changed the fuel filter at the same time and it is building pressure in the canister, it's just not firing up.
I have been having to jump it since it sat for almost a day with the flashers going and I don't have a good battery charger to put it on overnight.
Does it sound like I screwed something up, or is this semi-normal?
It sometimes can take a while to get it going. But you have to have the batteries fully charged up. It won't want to start if the batteries are low. It doesn't take too much cranking to toast an old battery.

It also could take a little bit to get the fuel bowl filled back up too...
When I changed mine, I refilled the HPOP reservoir before putting the plug back in and took the spin off top off the fuel bowl after hooking all the lines up and turned the key on until it was pumping diesel into the bowl instead of air. It fired up almost as fast as normal and then I took about a 50 mile drive down teh freeway at 70MPH. It's been firing up just fine ever sicne (other than my little chip issue).
Ok, I got a hold of a 10amp charger and let it sit all morning, came back from lunch and it fired right off. It has a bit of a delayed start, but improved after a highway blast.
Just for S&G, anybody know what an HPOP reseal costs at the dealership?
what gaskets/ O-rings are suggested for replacing or re-sealing the HPOP?
I have an adreniline coming adn want ever thing on hand before I start tearing apart?
You need the gasket between the pump and the reservoir. It is like 30 bucks... You can get it at your local International dealer or the ford dealer. You don't really need anything else.. Unless you want to replace all the Orings on your HPOP lines. For those I would just pull the HPOP line off and take it to International and they can get you the correct Orings... OR you can call up Clay and get some coming from him...
