Thanks SO MUCH for sending me his way (I mentioned it to him...they all knew who I was talking about!). Next time you talk to him tell him you sent him the guy with the Johnny Cash (one part at a time) truck!! He'll know who you mean.

Yeah...I guess at this point I'll just keep it stock until I can get a more open exhaust and some gauges. I did add the AIS filter/intake. It pulls the trailer just fine the way it is...I can live with it stock until next spring.
It's alright! Yeah I've been to Kevin's shop many times. The two new guys that are there I don't know really well, but Jamey should know me pretty well. Every time I go there I yell at Kevin and tell him "this boy needs a raise".

I'm sure I'll see Kevin soon and I'll make sure I mention the Johnny Cash truck.

You may like the dp-tuner stock tune, as you have an early 99 with 4.10's
It is doing a lot of good to mine, it is just more responsive.

Good luck,

Thanks for all the great advice, gang. After really thinking it over, I decided to dip into my savings account and have the following done:

1. Install 4 inch exhaust with turbo back
2. DP Tuner (stock, high idle, 40hp Tow, 60 hp Tow, 80 hp Econo)
3. Boost, EGT, and Tranny temp guages

I took the truck into Kevin's place (Black Magic Performance), and their working on it right now! Costing more to do it all, of course...but I figure it makes long term sense to get it all done at once.

Next addition will be a BTS accumulator valve for the tranny.

Again, thanks for all the great advice--it really made me thing things through.

Aww great, now you did it!!!
You'll love how it pulls when you get it back, and wonder why you didn't do it sooner. I know it's hard to take money from your savings for something like this, but once you pull your trailer it'll definitely be worth it. It'll run so much better and pull just that much harder.

Thanks a lot Lisa, had to go share our secret! Now we won't be the only ones in Iowa with a "real performance tuned" truck!

Very smart move, you are going to love life now. But you will kick yourself for not doing it a long time ago.

Hey guy's Thanks for all the great compliments. I should get on here more often, but it seems like I am always working on a truck. Here it is 11:00 and still here doing book work. Mike's truck is coming along and should make a fun machine to drive. Can't wait for him to get after the first time with the chip in it. I love the look on peoples faces that first time. Hey Smokin stop by tomorrow we should be fire'n up the cummins conversion truck, should be fun.

If it's not too late, get the accumulator VB now. It will cost you less in the long run because you'll need to get new tunes to match the VB. If you want to save a few bucks, put in the TransGo kit (~$70 for the kit) and have the tunes set up to match up front. You do NOT want to have the mod'ed trans tunes without the valve body mods though, in case you were thinking about that. The trans won't like it.

Good choices here. You are going to be amazed at how your truck runs when it is done.

Good advice, Izzy. Unfortunately...I have totally blown past my budget and am now into "rainy day savings account"!! At some point, I will get the BTS valve installed...but I think if I spent another dime on my truck right now my wife would strangle me!!

He can get a John Woods VB later without reprogramming his DP.

Dangit that's right. It was early this morning, had you confused with a fellow up in NW Iowa who is posting in the tech threads about a heater core issue. Sorry about that. DUH..since you are going to Kevin's shop. geez I feel like a blonde now.

On that note...if you ever see a big red 7.3..make sure you either wave, or blow me some black smoke. Its our way of showing affection.

Cool...I'll be on the lookout for you. Checked out your truck--that is a cool setup. I voted for you!

I'm heading for Arkansas this weekend to pick up a new horse--cant' wait to see how the truck runs with the new exhaust and tunes. Should make the trip a whole lot more fun (although getting a new horse is about as fun as it gets!!)
