amazing performance and gas mileage
So when I first got my truck is had some old school banks 1chip setting and just stayed plugged in which I believe it was a 60 or 80hp chip. So I now have a dp tuner and boy is this thing amazing. I have a e99 f250 7.3l 4x4, and I did alot of research on chips and programer's when I took it in to the shop they said they only install dp tuners so I said screw it and just went with what they said and they put 5 different settings on it . Which are stock, 60h,p 80hp, 80hp towing mode 120hp and 140hp aggressive/race. So today I'm towing a small trailer about 15 ft long by 5ft wide. Mind you before I got this new programmer I was only getting 12mpg at best even on the free way, now with this new programmer I can now easily pull 26mpg city driving with a trailer and about 33 to 36 mpg on the free way so the reason for my post is that if you are looking for a nice programmer then the dp tuner is the way to go for your 7.3 just thought I would share and hope I could help some people out if they are looking but are scared because they don't want to spend alot on a tuner and not see a good improvement. And I've never seen my egt's get over 650 degrees on my Pyro meter.
Sorry it's blurry tried to take it safely while driving on the free way. But it says average mpg 33.3 which i thinks amazing.

Yea hate to burst your bubble but those things aren't called lie-o-meters for nothing and they are even less reliable whith a tuner because of the way they calculate the milage. If you acuactly hand calculate it you will see what your milage really is. It's not unheard of for a 7.3 to pull 18-20 mpg but your not going to get over 30 mpg coasting down hill with the engine off drafting a semi. Tunes really do livin up the 7.3's and the ones from dp at supposed to be pretty good. I'm sure it is performing much better especially compared to that old school banks device and I'm sure it's nice to be able to change tunes depeneing on what your doing.

A tuner will not double your fuel economy. Best you can expect is 1 to 1.5 mpg improvement due to tuning. That's if you can keep your foot out of it.
Completely ignore the overhead, it is now totally inaccurate.
Here's what you do: fill up, log the number of miles till the next fill up, math with the number of gallons you had to fill up with. Repeat over several tanks. Then you'll have an accurate fuel economy number you can post.
Do this, you'll be surprised at what you are really getting, because it's no where close to what you think it is right now.

It's also been said that you're not going to do much better than an extra 40 HP if you have stock injectors. No matter what the tuner says.
I had a DP on my '97 F Super Duty 7.3. Combined with another intake and Diamond Eye down pipe, it woke it up pretty good. But I doubt I was getting the claimed 80 HP when I set it to the 80 HP tow code. Mileage increase was negligible or non existent. That said, I was still happy with the DP.

A typical 7.3L Super Duty will dyno around 215 hp at the rear wheels in stock form. The max you'll typically see on the same truck with a hot tune will be 315-325hp. So a good 100hp increase is very common if not mainstream.
The funny part is almost any tune from a "rated" 80hp eco to 140hp race will dyno almost the exact same horsepower. The only thing most people gain from a 140hp tune is a bit more torque on the bottom end due to the extra fueling, and a whole lot more smoke and EGT's.
