E4OD Slipping/Missing Gear

I have a 92 Bronco 5.8 w/E4OD and seemingly out of the blue it will not leave 2nd gear and go to 3rd on when warmed up, and when it does go into 3rd the engine just revs and it is difficult maintaining speed. I am planning on doing the filter today or tomarrow. Any other ideas? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I will try to pull codes this evening and I do not recall seeing the OD light blink.

I have been running 32" BFG All Terrains for over 200,000 miles (not the same ones of course and I think the fluid level is low. I also used an Equus Innova 3143 code reader and I appear to be flashing a 6 2 8 code. I am in the process of researching that code.

That 6 2 8 appears to be a "converter clutch lock up error. Any ideas? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

that might be a sign that your tranny is failing or has failed. i would service the tranny and see if it goes away. if not start looking for a wrecking yard unit or shell out some cash for a new one. let us know what you find out.

You may want to drain the torque converter also. With it you will need approx. 16 qts.
