I have a 94 f250 4x4 460 w/E4OD. Trans has less than 10k on a complete rebuild. This is a second vehicle around my farm. Truck has been sitting for a few months. Yesterday, started it to just go for a drive. I put it into gear, but it did not go into 1st. It started out in 3rd. I could manually put it into 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. All gears felt fine, no slipping. OD light on shifter doesnt work either now. I have had no problems with the truck until now. Trans was perfect when I parked it. I can't find any wires or fuses bad. Just looking for any suggestions.
Thanks
Best place to start would be running the "KOEO" self test, it might point you to what the problem is, it will also report any stored trouble codes "CM" at the same time. Any saved CM codes follow the KOEO test.
If there is a wiring issue for example, mouse chewed wires, the KOEO test should point that out.

Not to Hijack the Post.... but will this test work on a 92 F350 7.5 that has a "Check Engine" light that comes on, but goes out when the Truck is shut off. Then comes on again after driving a few miles? I first thought it came on due to low tranny fluid.

well, i put a scanner to the truck and nothing but normal egr codes. when i first start the truck it runs like a choke is stuck. chk engine light is on and the the E40D acts funky. when the truck comes up to temp or close, chk engine light goes off and truck runs normal again. when it acts up, it eats the fuel. went through 5 gal in nothing flat. i replaced the tps because it is linked to the trans, but it didnt help. scanner won't communicate until the engine light goes off. it has to be a sensor or something simple, but i hate to go parts chasing.
well your EGR not working properly could be causing the fuel issues and such. was the engine completely warmed up with you pulled the codes? what scanner are you using?
i wonder if you have a scanner issue because you should be able to pull codes regardless.
