E4OD Engine Braking Problem

E4OD Engine Braking Problem
When I start to go down a hill in OD 4th gear and shift to manual two for engine braking the transmission skips 3rd and goes from 4th to 2nd with no pause at 3rd. It may even be going all the way from 4th to 1st.
This runs the engine to a very high RPM.
Why is it NOT going into 3rd until the speed is down and then go into 2nd?
Could this be caused by a bad TR sensor?
This is a 1994, 460, E4OD with a 5.13 rear end.

Go out of OD BEFORE you shift the lever to manual anything. Been a while since I've had the E4OD, is there another position before two? I believe that the manual shift will try to go to whatever position you put it in - if the speed is not TOO high. As soon as it gets to a pre-determined speed, it will go to the position selected. Manual is just that....

Because that's the way it was designed. It won't run the engine speed too high, though it may be higher than you like. To get to third gear turn off the overdrive with the switch on the end of the shifter.
