Abs light
Hi all, i replaced the front brakes on my wifes 2000 ranger xlt , drivers side needed a new rotor, replaced it , and the abs light came on a week later, i rechecked the breaks all were good, and i also cleaned up the sensors, am i missing something,, i have not checked if any codes are stored yet, thanks for any help, marvin

When the ABS light is on the ABS will not work so it is just like having regular brakes. When my light came on I replaced the sensor on the top of the rear axle. I bought the part from autozone. It looked just like the original part, except the location of ford/motorcraft label was etched out. If I remember correctly it is just one bolt and a wire connector. I don't know if it had anything to do with the brakes being changed.

could be related to the brake work, or just a coincidence. Need to get the codes pulled or you are just chasing your tail trying to figure out whats going on. Once you get those, let us know and we will see what we can come up with!

They may have put a non abs rotor on the truck, the brake fluid may to low or high, the differential oil may be to low, and this happened to me , my alternator had a problem with one of the prongs on the plug and the ABS light that had been on for a month went away when I replaced the alternator!

Did the replacement rotor have a metal slotted plate that the ABS sensor uses for it's input ? I remember when I replaced mine that not all rotors come with it installed. If that's not it I would recheck sensor wires and alignment on that side .
