92 Explorer ABS light

92 Explorer ABS light
92 Explorer with rear ABS. Never really could tell from new if I had ABS (ie. no pulsing pedal etc). Dash ABS light is now on steady. Replaced rear axle ABS sensor to no avail.

I had an `88 F150 , with rear ABS. When the light came on , Lucky i pulled the rear wheels ,and found a wheel cylinder leaking profusely , and shoes that were paper thin. Check the master cylinder to make sure it`s not low and that you don`t have the same problem I did.

I have a steady ABS light on - '94 E150 4WABS.. light came on the day after LesSchwab rebuilt my front brakes! - No evidence of damaged wires though, and I don't know where else to check! -- the code readout is 539, which tells me exactly nothing with my chiltons book.

Walt 88 , the result was the shoes were so worn that the wheel cylinder actually was leaking brake fluid and on the verge , say 1/16th of an inch more and it would have popped that wheel cylinder right out complete with the rest of the fluid.. The light came on to warn me of potential problem . So , I changed both wheel cylinders(given the year) and put fresh shoes on. Light went off right then.
I would physically inspect the the brakes and make sure you have some meat left on those shoes and pads, make sure no brake fluid leaks . Other than that , check sensor or pull the codes.
