On my dad's '95 Ranger 4x4 Auto it lost reverse, and all the forward gears just dont seem right, theres a little bit of lag in them... He said just before this happened (like a day or so) the overdrive light on the shifter blinked, but he didn't think anything of it... Any relation there?
Thanks,
Willie
If the OD light blinked, there are likely tranny trouble codes stored in the tranny computer.
If the 95 has the diagnostic connecter under hood, then it has a DBD-1 diagnostic system, if the connector is in the cabin under the steering wheel, it's ODD-2 & most autoparts stores can scan the engine computer for trouble codes, some can't scan OBD-1, so call around & see who can.
You might have to run it by a tranny shop, or Dealer for them to scan the tranny computer, as it'll require a high end scan tool to access the tranny computer & access all of it's PID's & codes.
Anyway have the vehicles engine & tranny computer scanned for trouble codes & post ALL of the code Numbers found, as they can be helpful in a troubleshoot.
All that said, how is the tranny fluid level & condition & where & how has he been on past & present, due tranny fluid & filter changes????
Oil level was fine, it was changed 20,000 miles or so ago... Getting the codes checked out tmmrw. He said it just started feeling like it wasn't shifting out of second, it would start out in second and wouldn't shift up either, so we'll see i guess... Thanks for the input!
