I plan on ordering a new 08 diff cover after searhing the forum that sounds like the way to go. I wanted to make sure it would fit a v10 2000 Excursion 4x4. I dont know if they used different Rear ends in different excursions.
99.9% sure it will fit as I believe all years of Excursions has the same rear housing a 10.25" Sterling. I have also done this to my Ex, pics in album.
Just did the mod to mine too. It will fit. All Ex's had the same rear axle. Go to the hardware store to get the longer bolts. I too used stainless w/lock washers. Also, use some good sealant for the cover (there is no gasket). I used "The Right Stuff" by Permatex and have NO LEAKS. I also used Royal Purple 75-140 diff fluid. There is already friction modifier in there if you have a LS diff (I do). Very easy to do.
i think he needs to see a doctor not a ford dealer. lol. sorry, i couldn't resist. although i sometimes feel my rear end leaking after I leave the dealer too.
LOL. LOL...!!!!!!!!! I have one of those... wait, 2 of them. the other one is 9 inches and has a permanant place in the backside of my mustang. lol....
