1990 F150 Lariat Power Window problem

I can hear motor running. Is only minimally engaging the regulator and so is not lifting or opening window except partially and very weak. On passenger side. Is it a worn out nylon gear in the motor assembly or what??????

Depends on what you mean by "nylon gear". There are 3 small disks/buttons inside the window motor that have probably fallen to pieces. You could take the motor apart and inspect or replace the motor. I chose to replace motor because I didn't want to have to remove it again. There are Youtube videos that will help you with the removal.

Hi,
I agree, just get a rebuilt from your fav Auto Parts Store!

Go ahead and get one of those magnets on a spring stick for retrieving bolts from the bottom of the inside door well!

Don't ask how I know this!!!

I had the same problem. I bought the new three nylon rollers from the APS in the HELP section. Popped them in in no time, it worked great! Two weeks later the passenger side went out. Truck was a "90" f-150 with only 24K miles. Did it last summer, (2016).

Hi,
My opinion of course.....

I feel if your window motor has some age on it...

Just change it out!

To me it is such a PITA to change these out...

I don't want to go through that to change the "rollers" and the a month later...

Do it all over again!!!

Wait till you have to change out the electric lock motor!!!

NOW, were having fun!

I thought changing the nylon rollers was fairly straight forward. 95% of the work is going to be the same if you choose to replace the whole motor.

Things I learned from the passenger side before I did the drivers side a month later...I recommend using a dremel tool to cut the rivets out. If you have the window partially down or partially up it makes it easier to move and fit things back. Remove the speaker and use that space to access things. I used short 7/16 inch bolts with nylon locking nuts to put it back together...having them beforehand helps a lot.

An easy and cheap fix.
