XM reception
What is normal reception, those of you with XM are receiving?
I recently had a in dash DVD/Entertainment system installed and Sat XM.
I ask because it seems so quirky.. Night seems to be worst with stations dropping out to the point of not even being able to listen to it, esp. the comedy channels.
I thought it was the tree cover over some of the local streets but tonight on the open highway, forget it, cutting in and out...
Yet, I drove out of state last weekend and I think it was 100%..
I'm just wondering if this is normal or do I have a problem with a component or the install? theres a box for it behind the dash which has moved and seems to be hanging..

Odd as it sounds, it might have to do with your location N/S being up there in CT, and the location of your XM antenna.
Sat Radio is basically a microwave receiver system, and the satellites are located over Texas, so add the earth's curvature and the placement of your antenna, and there could be just about anything blocking the signal. The microwave issue is the same reason that it craps out under tree canopy as well.
Unlike GPS, there is only one satellite instead of a constellation.
