Yes and no. Air can still be trapped in the system. I refill to the level of the thermostat before installation. Then fill till it drips out of the upper outlet of the radiator. Attach the upper hose. That will give you the best shot a little or no air trapped anywhere. Make sure you have the heater controls on hot during this process. Even then it may take a few runs of bringing up to operating temperature to pop the stat open before all the air clears out.

I think the older powerstrokes come with a 203 degree. At least when I replaced mine NAPA listed the proper t-stat as a 203 degree unit.
