Ford is recommending that anyone repairing a three joint driveshaft switch to a two joint. I've had great experiences with aluminum driveshafts in the past so I figured if I was switching I'd go aluminum.
The guy @ the local drive train shop recommended not going aluminum... he cited strength as an issue in a truck that big. Funny that StangBangers with > 500 HP run them without problems.
He also recommended fixing the factory shaft so I just bought a new centering bearing and did the quick fix. I'm still interested in following up on this issue... I'm checking availability on two joint shafts out of later models in junkyards now. Anyone know if / when they switched? The related TSBs were written in 97.
