Does the 2015 regular cab configuration have an aluminum or steel material drive shaft?
If aluminum material is the yoke welded to the tube or is it pinned.
Have an aluminum drive shaft from 1989 Lariat, where the yoke is connected to the tube using an aluminum sleeve and a pin that is plug welded to the sleeve,
rather than continous fillet weld.
Maybe the 3.5l NA is aluminum, while higher torque, 5.0l NA, 2.7L EB & 3.5L EB
are fabricated using steel?
Don't really know, and it doesn't seem like there are many regular cabs around due to a frame shortage for the 2015 model year.
My '15 has the 3.5 EcoBoost and an aluminum shaft. My '13 had an identical-looking aluminum shaft as well, so I don't think engine choice has anything to do with it.

I think it has more to do with the length. The 145" wheelbase gets the one-piece aluminum & the 157" wheelbase gets the 2-piece steel.
Suspect the regular cab configurations have one piece aluminum drive shaft, but would like to confirm it.
Test drove a RC, 8 ft , two weeks ago , but did not crawl underneath to check out drive line.
Found a 2015 regular cab with 6.5 ft box.
Verfied the drive shaft is one piece aluminum material with center located slip joint.
Main diameter is 5" swaged to 4" diameter on both ends.
Also verified that a two section carbon steel two section drive shaft with intermediate support bearing is used on the 145" wheel base double cab with 6.5 ft box &
145" wheel base super crew cab with 5.5 ft box.
