I too have a 66 CC F100, when I purchased this truck the padded dash was in real bad shape. I pulled it off and will clean off the residue. I want to paint the dash but my wife wants a new padded dash. I have found the lowest cost one is from Flashback F100, call Tom @ 336-421-3979. Only color available ..... black!
I love the look of the painted metal dash...when I first thought about removing the dash, I thought I'd refurb the old dash and reinstall it,
but seeing as you have to clean up the old metal dash anyway, give
it a nice shiney coat and see how it looks...she may love it! You can always just rough sand it back down and glue on a dash pad again.
My wife was the oposite..."I like the painted dash more"! she said.
I too have a painted dash. I do have a dash pad that I am considering. If you go to my gallery and see pics of my interior, you'll notice I also have a chrome instrument cluster bezel. I say these things for the simple fact of "Glare" I like the looks of a painted dash but the glare from sun or headlights can be a bit blindig.
I'm still undecided. I'll know soon ...I think.
Ya, I know what you mean about concerns with glare...I wondered about it too, but so far, I haven't had any issues. My dash is painted a gloss light tan color. Your truck looks great! And that steering wheel, that's off the hook! I'm most likely going to restore the old padded dash to sell it as I love the metal dash look. I guess when it comes to glare, we can always throw on a cool set of shades. ;o)
Best,
Jason
