On a '66 F-100 with a padded dash, was black the only color available? I have only seen black ones. More specifically, I want to paint my custom cab red/white. Would it be correct to have a black padded dash pad or did they come in red too?
I have a '66 with a padded dash that is black but it is also cracked so I'm going to remove it and just have the metal dash. I don't think that I'd pay the kind of money they're asking for them even if I could afford it, I love my truck, for sure but I have to draw the line somewhere.
Just bought a 1966 Ford F-250 that has a cracked up dash...I was pretty sure they were metal underneath the padding, and just wanted to be sure
before removing it to sand down and have just the metal dash, which I prefer anyways.
On doing so, are there any hidden surprises or holes etc that would need to be dealt with?
Thanks, Jason
The area between the heater outlets is a mesh pattern for radio jobs w/o the dashpad...if theres no speaker there the sun shines right down through to the floor and stuff behind the dash. Theres also the holes from the pads surround trim front and rear...2 on left trim, 5 I believe on the right trim piece and 7 or 8 for the rear stainless trim piece.
BTW the original radio antenna location is on the right side of the cowl.
