Does anyone know why my gauges fluctuate sometimes , not idiot lights , sometimes they go to the right of normal and times they run normal . New backing plate and circuit board is clean , sensors are new , mostly the temp and oil gauge does this , the voltage gauge never moves at all . Is it the little voltage thing that is connected to the board be going out .

Is this what's occuring? The gauges seem to have a mind of their own, as the needles are swinging back and forth all by themselves, doing the Hula, so to speak.
This is a common problem and is the sign of a failing ICVR. Usually this "dance" affects the temperature, oil and fuel gauges.
D1AZ10804A .. ICVR = Instrument Cluster Voltage Regulator (Motorcraft GR513) / Available from Ford and autoparts stores.
Fits: 1971/79 F100/350 & 1978/79 Bronco.
If you plan on buying one, make sure to take the old ICVR with you to match it up.
There are...at least 10 other types, but only this one is correct.
Didn't you post this once before? the "ammeter" gauge rarely moves at all and when it does it's barely even noticable, there's actually a TSB regarding this very issue.
No this dude didn't post twice , because I never had this problem , but I switched out the voltage dash regulator and it works great now , so thanks for the help guys .
Bumping an old thread because I am about to change my instrument cluster, instrument cluster backing plate and instrument voltage regulator. My fuel and temp gauges go way past pegged out and the needle is missing on my speedometer, so I am just putting another cluster in with a new back and figure I would put another instrument voltage regulator in there while I'm at it.
Has anyone ever ordered from Midland Automotive Products? They have the instrument voltage regulator for $16 plus $1.60 shipping. I found them by a google search of D1AZ10804A. They say that the minimum credit card order is $20 so if they contact me, I guess I will add a $4 catalog to the order.
If they go ahead and ship it, I will confirm. Everywhere that I priced this part, it is $40 to $50. I figured I would give it a try for $20.

CAVEAT EMPTOR:
The cluster backs used on 1975/79 F100/350's; 1978/79 Bronco's and 1975/80 Econolines were made from a composition material that can turn to DUST before your very eyes!
In 1981, Ford replaced these fracatta cluster backs with hard plastic cluster backs and installed them in 1981 and later Econolines. Dealers installed these in 10's of 1000's of the earlier vehicles.
E1PZ10848A .. Cluster Back / Use with Oil & Amp Gauges / Obsolete
Fits: 1975/91 Econoline / 1975/79 F100/350 & 1978/79 Bronco.

I know the backs are just terrible and I suspect it to be the cause of my gauge woes. Is the brake light considered an idiot light? I ordered the one with the warning lights. This is my cluster. Did I order the correct one?
