external transmission filter sticker???
Was under the truck trying to get the esof plug to stay in (it wont) and saw a "This truck is equipped with an external transmission filter" sticker on the pan? Do they all come like this?

Extenal ATF filter is aftermarket. There has probably been one added in the line that runs to the tranny cooler. You should be able to see it toward the front of the truck, that is if it is still there.

The added filter won't make the ATF run any cooler but a bigger oil cooler would.

If your trans has been replaced it should have gotten an in-line MagnaFine filter added.
Maybe the sticker is to remind folks to change the MagnaFine.

With 371,000 it probably has been, the mechanic who ran the shop for the company that owned it since new said he didn't remember if they ever did a short block but was fairly sure they did a transmission since they normally don't go that long. Tranny temps won't bust 180, even with 103 degree Texas heat and the fluid is perfect.
