I run the same L&L's on my 557 as well as my 521. I did not see much of a difference from the longer tube to the smaller one on the dyno to justify the fenderwell exits. These stay out of the way of the starter (mini starter by the way) and clear everything just fine. Easy to install and just look at those flanges. No leaks. Cant ask for much more than that.
I forgot about those headers you run Ed. Amoung other things I don't like, that 1/2" thick flange on the L&L's just overkill & the weight of the outboard model is too much. I still have to come up with a special length set of bolts for them.
crank is 4.5, rods 4.440, where stock is 3.850 and 4.390. Went with a forged crank..prob a bit overkill in my application..also convereted the block from 2 to 4 bolt mains
Crank is 4.5, rods 6.7 or 6.8, bore is 4.44. Stock is 3.85 stroke crank, 6.605 rods and 4.36 bore. Just so no one is confused.
As far as the headers, I too would suggest the mad dogs. I just had Mad Dog mark make up a set of fenderwell exits for my 79 2wd and they look great.
Those look real nice. 2wd guys have it made in this case. Many of use 4wd guys have limited space with larger tires. I could not clear a set of those headers because my tires would get into then every time I had the wheels turned and the tire stuffed. Heak, I hit the body mount as it is. Sticking a giant set of headers in there would be tough to do.
