Um thats a late model reverse flow water pump, are you using a serpentine belt system?
If you are you'll have to use a late model power steering pump w/brackets. If not using serp belts you can get another water pump early model. Maybe the company you purchased the engine from will make a swap with you. Good luck!
My mistake on the water pump, after some research I discovered that Ford did use that pump different years. The sixties, mid seventies, eighties to ninetysix. These were found on early Mustang some v-8 granadas and back to Mustangs. I went to the phoenix web site on the engine web site. If you bought the Mustang replacement engine,65-86, this may be what you should be looking for.
It looks like part of the bracket attaches to the lower driver side side of the water pump. The 3 threaded holes on the front of the pump low side.
If you go to Summit Racing search, power steering pumps for Fords.
Zoops and March sell a power steering brackets for the low mount power steering pumps. The truck power steering would mount high for easy access. Good luck!
I got the P/S pump off an 80s model truck. I don't know the exact year. I will take my camera with me today for pictures of it. The pump does have a plastic reservoir though. And I am not running a serpentine belt. The pulleys they sent with the engine don't allow for it.
This is the 1978 and later P/S pump with the plastic reservoir and dipstick.
The pumps used from 1965 thru 1977 have a steel reservoir and a steel dipstick.
The 1978 and later pump uses brackets that are not the same as 1965/77.
The P/S pressure hoses used on 1965/77's, will not fit the 1978 and later pump.
IMO: To save yourself from a bunch of problems, go back and get the correct pump.
btw: 1953/64's use the Eaton P/S pump. The reservoir bolts to the top of the pump.
It's been a while since I've been on here. School has been keeping me very busy. NumberDummy, I'm going to take your advice (since you've been right on many questions I've asked before). So I started looking for a power steering kit that I can mount onto th engine prior to '77. I haven't had any luck finding a used one. So I'm resorting to buying a new one. I found one with the pump and brackets at https://www.tomsbroncoparts.com/product.php?id=977 for a '66-'77 Bronco. Would that work for the '69 Mustang block I have?
