I give ANYONE credit that has the 'nads to start a business like this in our current economic situation. I wish him all the best with this, since like was already said, he is one of us, and is helping us while helping himself. As was also said before, that's win-win!

I've only talked to Clay once. He was on the road, took the time to talk with me about my issues and put a price list together for me the next day. Did I mention that he was on the road? Unfortunately I was unable to get the parts (I broke a leaf spring) and had to divert my funds to repairs instead of upgrades. I'll catch ya next time Clay .

Regarless of what the dictionary refers to it as, I've always though of riff raff as the commoners. Just regular blue collar guys like me, Clay and most of the rest of us working for a living. We all appreciate the value of a dollar and the value we want to get for it. Clay has taken initiative and capitalized on an opportunity and we're all benefiting from it.

All the aftermarket guys I've dealt with (Riff Raff, ITP, Dieselsite, Diesel Manor, GOS Racing, etc) have all been great. Very personable and helpful. I always find that you get better products and services from the people that have a passion for what they are doing, rather than just producing a product. Clay just happens to be the new guy on the block, full of motivation and turning out some great product at great prices.

I'm always looking for the best product, which may or may not be the least expensive. Cost effective is good as long as it's not at the expense of quality. Right now, though, Clay seems to be able to pull off both.

ok, i see it now, yes i am in the wrong, i read most of the thread and i leanred some things i hadn't known before, and now i see why he is the man. Its typical FTE fashion to stick up for each other around here when something goes down, that goes without saying.. Sorry to those who took my question wrong and offended you by it, and sorry to clay if you take offense to it. but, seems like you wouldnt after seeing how you are by all the explanations of the people here as to what you do for FTE. Yes i havent been around as much, i guess i have fell out of the loop, and it's just because i havent had the time to get on all my forums, The bs going on with my truck, almost a year into it now and still not back how it should be, work all day then spend nights in the shop 12, 1, 2 am just to get up and do it again, not forum members, so you dont see it but i always have people over who want to learn a little here and there, and pitch in a hand, just like you all are going to do this weekend. But anyway sorry for the commotion, i keep forgetting this a low key place, 'the other site' is a different environment. feel free to make this vanish if you need to

I would like to add that I personally know that Kris has helped a lot of folks out too. Hell, he sent me a wicked wheel for free, which I also passed along, pay-it-forward style. We all have issues in our lives that don't always make here to the forum (and probably shouldn't!), so cut Kris some slack here, folks. I know I've been strapped for time too lately. It's not easy to keep up with everything that's going on, and life is short. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Guess I'll be the odd man out.
I really didn't take the question offensive to RR at all.
Sounded like reasonable questions to me.
( I don't know Clay or PSJ) Just didn't see it as called.

(although I have seen other PSJ posts that gave me different thoughts)

So, clay, why did you decide to name your company that?
Legitimate question, gotta be a story there.

Im not taking a stab or trying to be a dick,
Qualifier for above question

but what does he offer as far as service and price breaks,
Answered by quite (not quiet, but quite) a few.

it seems like in the past two months or so he's become "the man" around here.
reasonable observation (hard to dispute that)

Nothing wrong with that at all, he probably deserves it,
Definately supported by previous posts

but what is making everyone jump on the Riff Raff bandwagon?

Think that's been answered as well
It used to be "go to ITP diesel, or DP tuner, or Diesel Manor, Or this or that, now everyone says you gotta buy it from Riff Raff.
Guess you may have to give him a call and see for yourself.

Just my .02

I have only exchanged a couple PMs with Clay, and he was very cordial towards me. If i didnt already have some parts on my truck that he offers, i would definitely buy from him. I have almost all the parts i need, but if there is something i need and he has it, he definitely gets my business. He is a class act

Kris, I took to offense to what you said and really should have read deeper into before assuming the worst, sorry for that. I am really glad to hear you are still sharing your knowledge with others, you could teach us all something. Heck most of the mods I did to my truck were from reading posts that you responded to from others asking questions from 2 years ago. The mods on here would be wrong if they made you vanish. Hopefully soon that truck of yours will be done and you will have time to share with all of us again.

I am also finding myself re-reading the post. I guess we need be understanding of Kris' reason for the post. Curious? That's fine and his right.

I guess for me after the quick read through it did come across to me as one of those "why not just email him and ask him. Why does it have to be in a post" question.

Anyway- my apologies.

Kris,

I think any misconception about what you meant by this thread was really just symantics.

In the first sentence of the above paragraph you address Clay, but in the second you use he. If you had said what do you offer... and so you've become the man... it wouldn't have sounded antagonistic. JMHO

I've learned plenty from you and thanks for that.

Edit: And I hope to learn more.

As many times as I have read this.. I still feel it was a decent question? If you dont know, you ask. I have dealt with Clay, got nothing but good things to say, but why would Kris ask Clay, instead of this group? Sorry, just my thought..

By the way.. to beat dead horse.. Yeah, I would do buisness with Clay again, and again, and once more if I could afford it..

Wow, I am sorry that I got to this thread so late. I can vouch for Kris' character, and I really can say that the couple of times he has helped me out, there were plenty of other people there at his shop to learn from him, and/or lend a helping hand with what was going on. I didn't get the tone from his original post that some here did and that is probably because I know Kris and what kind of a guy he is. Sometimes the written word can lose a little in translation in our heads and I think that may be what is going on here.

Having said that, the couple of times I have dealt with Clay, he is as good as everyone else has said that he is.

The greatest band in rock and roll history had a name that was completely opposite their music and persona:

The Grateful Dead
