Worked on the truck this weekend; painted and rock guarded the inner fender wells as well as mounted rear bumper mounts to frame. Ready to spot paint the box, running boards, and fenders; then I can re-assemble.
Soooooo slow. But moving ahead. Running boards fit well to rear fenders, but looks like I'm going to have fitment problems when attaching front fenders. I'll have to loosen everything up front, and shim or whatever to line it all up.
I'm envious, I haven't touched my truck all summer. My youngest boy is starting to drive and we've been busy on his project, a 1967 Jeepster Commando. Between that and house/yard work I've been strapped for time.
Fitted my doors to cab today, then hauled truck to painter. The doors fit fairly well; was afarid cab had twisted with all the floor work, and door post repair I did. Had to "adjust" the hinges, BFH and wood block.
Stoked about seeing it all in paint; should be able to assemble all winter, time permitting.
Starting to look like a truck. I'll post once I get it home.
Picked up the truck from paint today, better than I imagined, minor flaws but due to my limited body work skills.
Installed tailgate cable supports, look cumbersome. Winter isclose, have truck in garage, hope to start final assembly and get EFI purring over winter.
Hand painted the tailgate script logo; didn't thin painted enough so will have to light sand and apply second coat. Tan on Meridian Blue, with Maroon trim.
The paint/truck looks great. I remember those days (fondly?), not that I would want to go back but there is a great sense of accomplishment when done. Enjoy!
