front wheel seals

I replaced the rotors on my truck and regreased the wheel bearings ect. Why are the seals two piece set. What is the first one for that slides over the spindle. A dust cover? The problem is they squeel . If i spray a little lube on them it stops . its anoying. Im thinking of removing the one that slips over the spindle and just having the one pressed into hub. Anyone have this problem. I did grease them when i put it all back together but once the grease pushes away it starts sqeeling.

1996 f150 5.8 4x4 man hubs.

Also anyone have the overdrive light on th gear slector flash. what does this mean?

Did you put a little grease on the seal lip when you installed them?

I think the flashing light means you have a transmission problem. You'll need to pull the code to find out exactly what it is.

yes i greased them anyone have any of these problems

Isn't that a wear sleeve for the spindle? They're only used when the seal surface on the spindle is worn bad.

I've never seen a two piece seal on these before. Normally there is just one seal that is set into the back of the rotor.

Yes . There is another piece that slides on to the spindle first. It was also this way when i removed it.

Dan there is only normal wear. im not sure what it is for. they were there from the factory. i have owned it since new and this is the first tme they were removed.
