OK - that's the one where you really have to watch for idiots hauling *** Northbound when you pull back out onto the highway, right? At the bottom of a little hill?
Prudence (or is it superstition ?) dictates that I never admit that.
Only one issue, and it happened when I was down in Tucson for the races also.
Started the truck one morning and the "info center" for the climate control was dark, and I had no A/C. Turned the truck off, started it up again and it was fine. Other than that it was an absolute joy.
Emergency services showed up at a campsite across the way from us. First time I've seen that happen. A guy had cut himself pretty badly while cutting a zip tie off of some equipment. They transported him, stitched him up, and he was back later. But they were looking for a hand specialist because he had cut some tendons in his forearm.
We were wondering about that, because we've never had cell service at this campground. But we didn't actually check this time, so they might have improved the coverage. There is a campground host, and I think he has some way of making contact, either phone or radio. Not sure.
We did our good deed for the day by clearing this deadfall off the road. People had been driving around it, including us going the other way, and cutting away the bank in doing so. It seemed like somebody ought to take 5 minutes and move it.
That just seems like a lot of weight on a one-axle trailer, even if it's something like a Rockwell.
I'm surprised they are transporting the '59 with its hubcaps on the wheels.
Are those Mopar rims on the '63?
Dummy will know!
Edit: Wholly Kow! I just realized, that's a Skyliner!
Pop
The wheel covers are correct on the Skyliner. The red/white/blue applique with its chrome overlay was an option, and are impossible to find. The marker lamp on the right quarter panel is a gypo.
The wheels on the '63 Galaxie aren't original, they actually look like the type that was optional on that land yacht of a '66 Buick Electra 225 (19' long!).
The wheels on the '66 Mustang aren't correct either.
btw: I wonder how many ppl here on FTE know what a Skyliner is?
I can just see the little weas...uh...Anthony's reaction when the power decklid comes up from the rear, the roof then lifts off, the front portion folding over as it starts its transition back towards the trunk.
That roof was originally designed for the 1956 Lincoln Continental Mark II. Ford decided at the last minute not to use it.
Electricians nightmare: Remove the rear seat from that Skyliner, you'll find TWENTY ONE relays back there, and enough wiring to choke a whale!
The two hydraulic rams that operate the roof are five feet long.
Trunk space? What trunk space? There's a plastic tub bolted to the center of the floor that's about 3' x 3' to put your luggage in.
Nice, Bill! I didn't know anything about what I was looking at or I would have taken context aware photos. I also had just awaken, and was ready for breakfast 15 miles away. Now I wish I had looked the skyliner over closer.
Old cars are much more interesting when in the company of someone who knows what they are looking at. Otherwise, I am just...
