changing fuel filters

i'm changing the fuel filters on my 2008 f250 6.4 deisel. I located the primary filter and opened the drain to release the fuel in the filter housing as per instructions. 15 mins later its still draining. how long doers it take to drain? am I doing this right? I called the local dealer and could not get an answere. thanks

Yikes!! thats a little long, should only take a couple mins to drain, you are using the water drain to release it?

It may drain for a while,no need to wait for it to stop.
Change the filter, and keep going !

You're really just removing any water by draining.
(as well as draining the housing).

Some people will jack up the truck to help w/ that.

Yes, you are correct in using the water drain plug to drain it.

It's better to change your filters when you don't have very much fuel in the tank. I think it is just siphoning fuel out of the tank.

I usually only get about a quart at the most of fuel to drain out when I change my filters. But I make sure to do it when I am below 1/4 tank.
