Starting Problem - 2008 diesel

Tried changing fuel filters on my 2008 F350 diesel. Tried primary - open drain - no tool to remove cap, closed drain. Removed top cap, replaced filter.

Started but immedialtely shut down. Did this twice. Put old filter back in - still no start. Wrench codelight on.

Any suggestions?

thanks

I just bought this truck - its all new to me - just sold my gas f250 that I had for 27 years (sad day) anyway - so I am just getting onto this thing - changed the oil - after the shell shock of having to buy the oil in 5 gal pail and $20 for the filter - but that went well.

Now this fuel filter change. One thing I didn't mention previous is I power washed underneath and am now wondering if I have knocked something lose?

As to code the only thing I see is the wrench icon.

BUT it is dfp deleated and does have a DashDaq that I don't have a clue as to what its telling me.

Prior to this no problem starting.

thanks
paul

To change the fuel filters you open the fuel water separator and let it drain to relieve pressure and get most of it out.

Then remove that lower filter and insert the new one. Put oil on the new o ring for the cap and torgue per what is written on the cap.

Move to the motor. Open that one, inspect fuel bowL If all clean, replace and again lube new o ring for the cap, torgue to spec.

Now go the key and turn the truck to the on position. Do not attempt a start. Let the key stay on and you should hear the low pressure pump running...it is now purging air from the system. Let it run at least 30 second. Repeat at least 6 times.

Now attempt to start.

If no start check the fuel cutoff switch to see if it is tripped. Depress if needed and then attempt your start.

Use only OEM fuel and oil filters.

For the wrench light it sounds like it maybe because of this if you did not have it before.

Go online and learn how to find the codes. Report to us what the code is.

Followed instructions - and on two occassions it started but only for 2-3 seconds then shut down. DashDaq is saying (I think) low fuel pressure 45-50??

Can't see any alpha numeric codes.

?

ok think I found codes - DashDaq is saying;

1. P1000 - OBD system readiness test not complete
2. P2291 - injector control pressure too low - engine cranking

what do I do?

thanks

You got air in it. Bleed out the shrader valve on top of fuel cooler until there are no bubbles then try again.
