I bought a 1971 429 short block and installed a cloyes double roller with a 3 keyway crank gear. I installed the crank gear straight up and go to put my balancer on and its reading 30 degrees after. Does anyone know what the Ford part number of the balancer should be. I'm thinking I have the wrong balancer.
Not sure what the ford part number is, but I have been running a Powerforce damper on my 70 429 since 2004 with no problems. CNC-Motorsports.com sells them for $67.25.
BB Ford 429-460 Powerforce 6.7" street damper. part number PP-80008. My original one was pretty cracked up. I would recommend a new one if yours looks like mine did.
Thanks,
I went with ordering the Powerforce dampener.
I was thinking the same that a 385 series balancer only fits the B.B. but its not lining up properly on the crank nose keyway, If I installed it on the timing gear keyway which is 45degrees off the nose keyway then it would work.
