i just installed a new head(rightside) onto my motor and put everything all back on and installed the distributor t all the marks i made(on tdc, the rotor was pointing to the #1 plug wire on the cap), but it just cranks and wont start or anything. I am getting fuel to the plugs though.
The book said to line up the vane and vane body, what are they?
pull the coil lead and hold it close to a bolt head. have someone crank the motor. check for spark. if you have spark, turn the key on then off, go to the fuel rail and find the test gauge port. it is schrader valve so unscrew the dust cap, cover the port with a rag, put on your goggles and push on the center pin thru the rag. the rag should get wet with fuel. if it does not, have a friend turn the key on for a couple of secs while u hold the pin down. that should allow any trapped air to purge and fuel should come out.
the correct procedure for installing the distro require engine on #1 tdc, rotor pointing to #1 cyl plug wire, and the leading edge of metal "finger" of the trigger cup should be lined up with the Hall Effects Sensor that triggers the coil. fwiw the metal "cup" that triggers the electronic ign has eight cutout sections which then leave 8 metal "fingers". the leading edge of each causes the HaLL Effect Sensor to be able to complete its circuit and thus cause the ign module to fire the coil. the metal "finger " for the #1 cyl is narrower than the rest. so if you get the motor onto #1TDC FOR SURE, then pull the cap and rotor off, and look down into the distro (i use a little mirror cause #1 is on the backside of the distro shaft) you can confirm that distro is in correctly. this info comes from me working on my '95 E350 so i hope you have the same ign system.

It has new plugs, wires, rotor, cap, etc... What could be causing it?
