What is the secret to remove the cowl vent from the cab (51 F1)? I have removed the cover and the gasket from the assembly but I am unable to get the assembly out of the cab. All screws have been removed. Thanks
I spent hours tryin to figure this out on my 52.......mine would not disassemble to remove. I finally ended up prying up one end thru the hole, then rotating 90 degrees and remove. It worked for me. T/M
Thanks. I see what you have done. I had removed a small bolt that put a friction hold on the handle. I did not remove that long pivot bolt. I am not at the truck now but if I remember right that bolt (shaft) did not have threaded ends. Have to look again.
That is what I removed. Your pictures do not show the rod that goes across the assembly. T took some pictures of it. I have to get them on this computer. When I do I will post one. Or should I sent it directly to you? If you want send me your email address. I am billt203@yahoo.com, Houston.

I apologize, I just grabbed the vent I had laying around and I didn't realize the vent wasn't complete with the cover bracket, which has the rod you mentioned. I installed the cover bracket and went out to the truck and installed and removed the vent assembly again. It did make it a little more difficult to work with but it still went in and came out just like it did without the cover bracket.
Ross,
Yeah, that my panel truck in the pictures. I am planning to repaint some time so I'm not too worried about the paint. I was careful not to scratch it as I was doing the vent install and removal though.
