Will be installing the cowl vent gasket soon, but have questions. What is used to seal the actual cowl vent mechanism to the cab? That is the where the vent assy bolts to the cab. Thin layer of RTV? Mine seems too uneven to just use a layer of thin tar paper or similar.
Is the gasket installed with the vent assembly already installed? I assume you want to be able to close the vent to hold the gasket in place while drying?

Dave the cowl vent screws down to the cowl, the gasket goes over the lip and the screws go through the lip and the gasket.
