2005 Ford Expedition Window Issue
I did this 2 months ago, but just got around to loading them on here with a beer or two
everything in this process gently prys and snaps apart.
at this point below, you probably can fix them by slipping some fine sand paper between the contacts shown. HOWEVER...my truck has 98k miles and the driver side window contact also had some major pitting. I chose to take things a bit farther to refresh the contact surface to a better finish and took the whole toggle apart.
ABOVE....you can see what appears to be a small square etched in the surface of the contact(left in red) This is exactly what it is!! the pit/corrosion was deep enough where it was probably causing issues with the circuit it makes. The circle on the right shows the dark soot/carbon build up on another contact....all cleaned with a some fine sand paper and pencil eraser.
take your time, note where things go (take pics), work in good light and on a smooth surface. I use a cookie sheet to contain the parts and sit inside at the dining room table . Finish the job knowing you saved some good $$$$ and now know your window wont fail in the rain!
ooops..that was from my plug change the same weekend. I added to another thread on here somewhere. For the record thats a stock plug from a
03 exped with 98k on the truck...and the plug.
