I have a 2004 Sport Trac and am having issues with the front windows. The drivers side window will start to go down and then get caught up when because it starts to go cockeyed. The passenger window will only go down after the truck as been running for 10 mins. Does anybody have any suggustions?
The driver's side window could be due to an issue with the power window regulator assembly or possible damage to the part on the window that connects to the regulator assembly. If you're comfortable doing so, pull the door panel and first confirm all the window regulator mounting bolts are in tact and securely fastened. With the door panel removed, you should be able to operate the window and watch what's happening to see why it's binding up. You may need to carefully peel back the moisture barrier to really see what's happening with the regulator and window track.
As for the passenger window, you're going to need to do some more troubleshooting to get an idea what's happening. Start by measuring for voltage and good ground to the power window switch when the window does not work. If there's voltage there, then you get to take the door panel off and trace the wires to the motor assembly to see if there's a break in the wires. If not, measure at the power window motor. If you have power and ground to the motor but it doesn't work, then the window motor is likely intermittent.
If you don't have power and ground to the power window switch, they your search will go the opposite direction, toward the fuses. The first place I'd suspect if this is the case would be a broken wire in the accordion boot between the door and the cabin.
