Anybody else have this problem , I have tried 2 different new caps and 1 other filler neck - none of them look damaged in any way and they all leak on right turns - running down the outside of the cab , I was going to satin black the truck for now while I get other things in order but dont want gas to ruin any work done .
i might trying bending the little tabs down, closer to the rubber to get a tighter seal...are you using the push on or twist on? i would use the twist on style and bend the tabs a bit if needed...also make sure its not a vented cap
I had trouble with my rear tank on the '75 just sitting in the sun and
spewing gasoline! :/
It was tough getting the gasoline in there too just to have it spew
back out was a source of major irritation and the "making it pretty is
more important than making it useful people" at Ford are no longer my
favorite people. ;)
I bought some rubber sheet at Ace Hardware and made gaskets.
Later found thick rubber washers that work even better.
Basically it's un-related to my spewing problem, but might help you? :)
Just last night I sprayed them with silicone, they needed it bad, it's
been about a year since I sprayed them last.
Non-vented caps do not fit on filler necks for non-evap gas tanks.
Switching filler necks and running a non-vented cap on a non-evap gas tank will result in the truck dying and starving out of fuel when the tank gets to halfway.
I did bend the tabs a little andit is a replacement fram twist on like the orig. its so tight I can barely get it on or off but still leaks - gasket is pretty thick and not torn , and I fig. fuel starvation doing the non vented would happen so I did not do that , I dont know what else to do other than remove it all together and put a tank in the bed ....
My 70 F100 was doing something similar, and I found out that the clamps on the rubber hose between the filler neck and the gas tank needed just a touch of extra tightening.
I thought of removing the tank for stereo equipt. anyway and go to a bed fuel cell but that was going to be later after paint , and yes I side parked it on a hill to confirm it is the cap or the top of the neck , I guess I will have to yank it out and do a cell sooner.
One other thing is Gas explands ALOT. It alway drove me huts if I filled on a cool morning than we get the 120+* weather here in Redding Ca. It would louse about 1/4 to expasion as it would push out the filler neck, In the summer months I never put more then a 1/2 a rank in the main cab tank, and just fill the other two.

What year and series is this truck?
If a 1970/72, some F100's came with the Evaporative Emission System which uses a non vented fuel cap.
With Evap Emission, the in-cab tank (and the optional auxillary tank) are vented.
Non Evap Emission trucks use a vented gas cap, because the tank is not vented.
Use of a nonvented fuel cap on a truck without Evap Emission can cause the tank(s) to collapse!
Sorry guys it is a 68' f100 2wd lb , tank behind the seat only so I have to get it to stop , I have had it for about 6 months and have filled it only once due to the leaking and have since just put in $20.00 at a time ( about half a tank ) it is non-evap and I am using a vented cap , I would not mind just a little but it leaks too much for a new paint job just yet , I dont park at a lean it just does it on right turns , it is def. the cap though and not the hose , I have had more than 1 person say I am leaking fuel - kinda getting old , Thanks so far guys.
