While I understand I have the right to pick and choose my battles, some comments get under my skin, rather than sit back and ignore I lashed out.
Not good business manners.
But please don't expect things immediately or overnight It just does not happen that way. If it does not happen the way you want do not critisize me for not coming through for you.
I do my best to help and please FTE members but I can't satisfy all. In one of my post's I said I had patterns for headliners, I have been bombarded by requests for copies. (I have put my personal e-mail address on threads in the past) I was contacted by a member here wanting a copy of the patterns. When I responded that the shipping tube cost around $4.00 and shipping to his zip code plus insurance was $6.65 bringing the total to $10.65 his reply was "I thought it was free" (classic) Instead of getting angry I laughed and ignored.
I love this site, the knowledge is overwhelming. I spend hours reading threads from new to old, always learning. I've had many questions and found the answers in the "search" feature.
So to all, if I have offended you I apologize.
We all get angry at times, don't worry about it. I love the, what, I have to pay for shipping and insurance. Do these people live on another planet? I guess they figure you would graciously ship it to them out of your own pocket or that the Postal service would not charge for shipping because it was a free item.
And remember next time tell them "your lack of foresight does not constitue an emergency on my part".
I think I read the post you speak of... I have experienced this same thing before, and I think people forget we have lives away from the computer and our hobby in some cases. It took me awhile to figure it out... but if someone is willing to do something for you for free or little or nothing... you work around their schedule.. case in point.. My 65 styleside bed has been with a guy for 3 months getting body work and a new bed floor... he is a high school auto body shop teacher with an award winning class that took nationals in skills usa this year... he got his kids to work the metal and get the old paint and rust off.. he is repairing the bed floor.. and im paying him for the supplies.. thats it.. even though he has told me 20 differnt dates he would have something done and half are missed... I let him do his thing.. its pretty much free after all .. and he is good at what he does.. I consider myself lucky. However some of his people he has helped arent so greatful... and chew him out for taking so long...
that said.. I think you are the bigger man for what your doing. keep up the good work.
No worries here Robert...I just wish people could figure out that parts while THEY might be free...shipping and packing stuff typically isnt..unless its something an envelope with a stamp can handle...
Your help here is immeasurable and very much valued and appreciated by me...Im always learning something new about stuff in on or around these trucks form you as well as others on this site..its why I come here...and of course to help others out with their rides as well, however I can...
The big benefit though is that you make friends who have a common interest...IMO thats a pretty good thing...and that IS free.
by the way robert like Ive said before.. your ride is the one that got me exited about these trucks... and I know im not the only one.
Thank you guy's for the kind words. I do like my truck and the looks it gets. It's nice to know it's also an inspiration to some. It's been 5 plus years in the making and it's not done, but getting close. I just wish people would take their time, think it out, then with a plan, think it out again. Because what will go wrong, will. It's just better to go slow and do it right the first time.
Robert,
Your truck is definately an inspiration to me after seeing it over at the F100 Western Nationals in Anaheim. You have done a lot of little things to yours that I am doing to mine. I hope that mine, when it's done, gets the looks and compliments that yours does.
Glad to hear that you are sticking around.
As someone who has had the pleasure of meeting you
I know how hard you work both on the job and at this hobby and can say the place is a **** load better for having you around! Always enjoy the chat at the yards or on the phone and look forward to seeing many a Slick make it back to a prior glory due to your efforts!
