A FE bell C6 will work. The driveshaft connection is different and you probably will have to have once custom fitted or cut.

You may also need to move the crossmember back a little. Do you have the 2 piece or 1 piece driveshaft on your truck?

I did this swap and it is definately worth it. It went a lot easier than I expected. You will have to slide the transmission crossmember back since the transmission mount is a little further back on the C6 and drill 2 new holes to remount the crossmember. The transmission mount for the C-O-M and C6 are identical. You will need to buy cooling lines for the trans and run them to the radiator. I bought a new yoke and had a one piece drive shaft made. Cost me about $200 for the drive shaft. Make sure that you either get the C6 from a truck or get the shifter arm from a truck so that it will go in all gears.

Not that it matters inre to the swap...

It's a MX Cruise-O-Matic, not an FX.

The FX C-O-M was used in some 292's.
