Transmission Fluid???

Transmission Fluid???
I changed tranny fluid,filter and drained TQ. I refilled w/Valvoline Dex/Merc Max Life fluid. Then I saw where people are using mercon V. Did I screw up?

When the trans was built MERCON was the right fluid. Since then Ford discontinued MERCON and changed MERCON V to be compatible with the older transmissions, so now MERCON V is right. But MERCON is not wrong...
