Hi Folks: Newbie to the site and of course I have a question. I have a '96 F150, auto, 4x4, 302, anti-sway bars front and rear. I've run this thing for several years mainly to tow a small (20ft) travel trailer. It does a very good job ...EXCEPT....when we hit hilly country.
There is a mechanic that sez he can add 20-30 horses by replacing the computer chip. Do you folks agree with that?
I have always tried to maintain this truck and it runs like a top and I don't want to mess it up'
I don't think you can get that much out of a computer chip on a stock motor .If you have a highly modified motor then a custom made chip or tuner is a must . Some things that will help is advance the timing a few degrees, long tube headers with a good exhaust will help alot , gearing is also important . Theres been alot of threads about this , you can go back & look at them ... Lew
