For the price this shop is charging, the Ford reman part from Partsguyed.com is a far better bet.

Be wary of any service that offers "upgrades" to higher voltage, or replace parts.

Most of the parts I have seen being used to "upgrade" or "replace" are in fact, way substandard.

Have any of you had any problem with the inside of your fuel tank coming apart? Then having injectors go out?
I hav 10 f 450/550 have replaced fuel tank on 6 of them. Ford does not want to pay. They know it's there problem but refuse to fix it. These trucks are 06 07 serviced by ford regulary some of the trucks have spent more time in the shop then on the road. These trucks are all field trucks for an ironworker outfit in California. I have a 06 f250 6.0 that has 160,00 on it it runs good I've gone thru 4 turbos and 1 high pre sure oil pump. Steering stabilizer went south but other than that it runs good.
I was thinking the weight my guys are carrying could have something to do with it? I've honestley put mor money in these trucks than what I paid for them when they were new. Any suggestions or did I just by the worst trucks on the planet.

Seeing how I haven't owned every truck on the planet I wouldn't know.

As Gearloose stated, you need to post a NEW thread if you have something specific you want (do not keep adding on to this one - it is unrelated to your issues).

Sorry you are having such big problems, here is some help I think.

If it relates to the delaminated fuel tanks, then there are a number of past threads on it - even some on having them treated and recoated with aftermarket products. Some people buy new fuel tanks. A search can find you what you want OR someone can even help find them for you.

If you drive these trucks w/ low fuel pressure from stopped up filters, you will have injector issues and maybe turbo sticking.

If you want any help at all, be specific and tone down the emotionalism. It does no good to rant about them being the worst truck ever.

Right on.

As old friend of this sub-forum Rickatic said, the reason we get good people here is because the posts are well moderated, and uncivil behavior limited.

Lets keep it that way.

We can always agree to disagree.

FICM FOR 2004 F350 6.0

I just recently had my truck in for head gasket replacement. $4700 later I have a new truck it seems, complete with ARP head studs and a Hypertech tuner that has improved fuel mileage beyond 19 MPG!!!!!
All is great................ Except, I apparently now have a FICM that is going bad. Can someone tell me what the signs are of the FICM going bad. I am told that cold weather starts are a sign, and I had a heck of a time getting it to start the last few mornings with the weather in the 30's.
Also, what will it hurt to drive it that way for about a month until the funds are recovered froom the above mentioned....

thanks in advance for any help guys...

The procedure to test a ficm is in the tech folder.

Verify alternator, batteries (individual load test) first.

If you have a fuel heater, try unplugging it.

Hard starts cold is one potential indication of injector issues (which include possible FICM issues) ..... but it can also be caused by a number of other things. Also, seeing some white-ish smoke on cold start-up (w/ a slight diesel odor) is also a potential sign of injector / FICM issues.

Always good to get the batteries load tested first.
Also a top priority is to get the codes read.

You can test FICM voltages, but even if they are good it does not always mean that the FICM is good. However, if the voltages are bad, then you can pretty much say the FICM is bad.

Exclamation Need some help!

Hey Guys,
I am terribly ignorant when it comes to vehicles so I need some help from you guys/girls with this. My truck has a rough cold start in the morning, regardless of whether or not its technically cold out. The truck runs flawless when its warm while my wife and I were driving the dreaded check engine light came on so I took it to AutoZone and they checked the code which came back as PO261:
The ECM has detected a fault in the Fuel Injection Circuit. Long story shorter I took it to Ford because I don't know anything about vehicles and they told me the FICM needed to be replaced immediately, can someone provide insight on this because I don't want to drop a grand if I don't absolutely need to. I apologize in advance for my stupidity regarding mechanics.

What year truck?
Any mods?
Have you had any recent alternator or battery problems? How about any other work on the truck?
If you haven't already, I would charge the batteries and then load test them.

You may indeed have a FICM issue, but P0261 (a single injector #1 circuit code) is not that clear of an indicator code for the FICM.

I would consider inspecting the connector to injector #1 first.

Hey bismic,
Its a stock 06 6.0 Lariat FX4 with no mods at all.
I bought the truck in February and this is the only issue that has arisen with the truck. I will load test the battery's and let you know the outcome. I was going to take it to Swamp's to have it checked out, do you think that's a good idea?

Duh, an '06 - I should have looked at your forum name ............

Swamps is a good place to go IMO. They should be able to test your FICM.
