i am having a problem with my 94 f 150. once in a while, my truck will start to pull to the right. sometimes when i am coming out of a right hand turn it wants to stay right, or when i am on the highway and hit a bump or a dip and it starts pulling to the right. after a minute it straightens out. if i crank the wheel to the left it straightens out until the next sudden pull. i jacked it up and can't find anything loose. please help
Thanks for the suggestions. Aside from jacking up the wheel that I believe is giving me the problem and prying on everything, how do I narrow down the problem.
Axle ujoint, Turn the wheels all the way in either direction. Reach in to the axle u joint and try to turn it, if it doesn't turn free then it's bad. Ball joints, jack one side up enough to put a long bar under it. Work it up & down to see if there is any play in it. If you don't find anything then jack it up set it on stands and work the steering back & fourth & see if you can feel/see it binding anywhere.
Thank you Mark. I believe I have found the problem and it is in fact the axel ujoint. do you think it would be wise to go ahead and replace them both and do you have any tips on how to replace them? I am an ammature mechanic at best just learning as i go. thanks again.
