I was driving down the road the other day and it just died. No warning, coughing, sputtering anything.
Symptoms.
No WTS or CEL or tach movement
No fuel pressure...I have a gauge
F-5 display blank
Last winter I had the fuel bowl heater fail, and it acted like this. (the heater is still disconnected, with global warming who needs it anyway!lol)
I checked the number 30 fuse and PCM relay and fuse in the underhood fuse box...no help. I "tapped" on the two relay boxes next the the under hood fuse box and it started after that a short while later. ( My gut feeling is that it had nothing to do with it) It has ran ever since. We have a camping trip planned soon and I'm wanting to find a tangible fix for this...The last thing I want is for this to fail again with the family aboard. Any insight would be greatly appreiciated!
Loose chip or connection on the F5? That's where I'd start looking. Try wiggling things around when the truck is at idle. If it causes a stall, you've found your problem.
my father in law just had the same problem and it was his chip like mentioned above. his wasnt taped in though. after i yanke the chip out he's had no problems since.......
