A little info first. 99 extcab, 4X4, 4 speed auto, 3.73, stock with 98,000 miles and a 95 extcab, 4X4, 4 speed auto, unknown rear-end, stock with 72,000 miles.
I towed my toy box with the 99 (father in-laws) and did great. I'm looking at the 95 and ?ing if it will do as well? What do you think?
What is the difference in a 95 PSD and a 99 PSD all being the same?
The 95 will have a smaller turbo, likely not to have an intercooler, will make less power, has an E04D tranny, and nowhere near the creature comforts either. It will be a workhorse, but with equal equipment/mods, you'll ALWAYS be behind the 99 in power, towing, & comfort.
If I am picking up a rotating assembly off a 97 and then swapping over all of my 01 stuff to it, will I be back to where I was when the truck was previously running or will I be down on power?

Yes. The shortblocks are virtually identical. Actually the heads are too. Just the injectors, wiring, and intake plunems are different. But you'll be swapping those out anyway. If you take all your stuff off the 01 and put in or onto the 97, it'll be identical.
