Backup Camera Mounting location

I just recieved my back up camera, and I'm not too sure where to put it. If you guys could post up some pictures of where you have yours that would be great.

Right on the step pad in the center of the bumper, in front of the plate (looking from the rear). Aim it down slightly and you'll be able to barely see the top of your trailer ball in the monitor, perfect for hooking trailers. Used to have mine under the bumper offset just to the right of the trailer hitch, like it much better on top of the bumper.

There's a thread on another forum where someone ordered the handle cover used on the factory backup camera and installed it there. Came out really good. But it depends how big your camera is compared to stock.

Yeah, I thought about the stock camera location, but I don't think it will fit in there. I'm gonna get it mounted tommorrow, and i think i'm gonna try out several locations so that I can figure out which one I like best.

don't you have to worry about stepping on it or it easily getting damaged mounting it there?

A friend recently had his camer installed. The installer drilled a hole in the center of the license plate and mounted the camera behind the plate.

I cant drill a hole in the center of the plate though...my plate is a farm tag and it has no spaces in between the letters.

I mounted mine in my tailgate handle, it has great visibility since it is up high. The only downside is that you cannot see the trailer hitch ball, there is no way to get the camera aimed down enough.

Mine came with a bracket that uses the two top tag holes. It uses two-piece angled washers if you want to angle it downward.

Isn't it illegal to alter the license plate in anyway?

My work truck is a Tacoma with a stock tailgate camera, I found a thread on a toyota site were most people said they drilled out the lock and mounted them there.
