Crew Cab vs Super Cab, any preference?

I have been pondering on whether to one day move to a crew cab or stick with my super cab and wanted to get input from people in regards to their personal experience with each what find out what people's preferences are and why.

I understand the crew cab is about 2 foot longer then the super cab but how much different is it to drive? How much harder to park? Which type of cab do you prefer? and keep in mind that the long box is a must. How can anyone drive without a long box anymore?

Wink

I went from a 1978 F150 SuperCab long bed to a 1994 F150 SuperCab short bed to a 1999 F350 Crew Cab Dually.
I love how easy the short bed is to park and was amazed in the difference between the short and long bed.
The Crew Cab Long bed (in my case a Dually) is really no different than the long bed SuperCab to me.
My Wife used to drive our '78 F150 SuperCab Long Bed as a regular driver and did very well with it, and when she got into my '99 CC long bed (Dually) she had no problem with it at all.
So bottom line if I had it to do over again I'd buy the CC long bed over the SuperCab for the full sized doors and full sized rear seat-may be YOU don't "need" a Dually-I really didn't need the Dually but found it at a great deal when looking for an F250 CC.

I have the CC,LB.. It is a pain in the **** to park anywhere close to a door, nothing is made for the swing of my truck, and in several area's I may have to pull in and out a couple of times to get in there. Backing in is always easier.. I wouldnt change a thing.. and have never regreated having her.. I LOVE my truck..

I have CC LB with SRW and I love have the fullsize 2nd seat in the truck. People can get in and out easily, plenty of leg room, etc. As far as parking I dont have any problems, may have to walk a little extra somedays but thats no big deal.

I have found that the crew cab is bigger than the super cab. If you need more space in the cab, it is a good choice.

CC SB here, it was a no brainer for me with three kids. Sometimes I wished I got the long bed for added loading compacity and more fuel storage but my shortbed I,m very happy with.

I like the *looks* of the extended cab, but I really like the space of the crew cab. I usually have to back mine in too, and it's a short bed. I have a lot of experience driving CC LB trucks with the military though -- all of ours are either Ford or Chebby CC LB...

I have had both extended cab and crew cab and I prefer the crew cab. If you do or are ever going to be hauling around people, crew cab is the way to go. Mine is a short bed, but backing into a parking spot shouldn't be much more difficult with a long bed than what I have now.

I love my cc lb drw, I usually park out away from everyone when I can. mostly because of the drw (it takes up the whole width of a parking spot), but also because it takes up more than one length (so it sticks out a few feet). I can usually find a spot on the outside where if I back in, the rear just sticks out of the parking lot. My kids call it the Brute, but my wife calls it the BBT (Big Butt Truck) .

Another thing I have wondered about, that others could probably verify or not; is I wonder if steering wander is worse with the long wheel base. Mine is pretty bad, I'm sure the Redhead steering box would help, I just wonder if the longer wheel base exaggerates the problem.

I have 4 kids, and we all fit fairly compfortably (the middle front is the least compfortable), which is really nice on trips and long drives. I'm now a huge fan of the crew cab.

I guess my opinion boils down to this; I love the crew cab so much, I gladly endure the negatives. If you live in a city and do a lot of parking in tight places, that may be a negative that does not outweigh the benefit.

I have had both and love my CC LB. I made the mistake of buying a SB once and wont do that again. Sure it is long and tough to park sometimes, but you learn where you can and can't go. The biggest PITA is those stupid parking garages with the spiral ramps going up and down.

The only 2 door vehicle I ever owned was my 66 Mustang, and the next will either be a G35 or Lotus Elise. 4 full doors is the only way I'll go for a truck. My dogs need windows that roll down, and if I am out on a long drive, that big back seat is surprisingly comfy.

The SC long bed is the exact same wheel base as a CC short bed. I have a CC short bed and I love it. Parking a long bed is a chore. Parking mine isn't much better. The interior room is a must as others have pointed out, if you have kids or are hauling friends with you. My last pick-up was an extend cab and even when the kids were very little it was not nearly as convenient as the crew cab set-up.

Not technically, 156 for the CC/SB 158 for the SC/LB

Perhaps, but I thought the same thing. The longer wheel base is surprisingly longer, 142 vs 156/158 is a big difference.

I HAD a CC/SB and moved to SC/LB. I don't normally carry people, don't have family so it works better for me. The RARE occasions I do move adults they fit with protest but they do fit. I would rather have the room for tools/stuff in the bed box and the bed room rather than the inside room. I thought I wouldn't mind keeping that stuff in the CC, but I was wrong. There was a little room behind the seat for some stuff in the CC, none in the SC.

Personally I would like to see a slightly larger SC backseat, slightly.

It's really up to personal preference, if you carry anyone more than the front seat even OCCASIONALLY you'll probably enjoy the CC much more and so will your passengers.
