Alright, I smell a coolant leak... can't see it coming from anywhere and it isn't leaking inside the cab. The guy I bought it from said it's the heater core so I'm going to start there. However, the haynes manual & google aren't giving me ANY clear directions whatsoever where the heater core exactly is or what has to be removed to get to it?
Alright... got the heater core replaced. The two hoses connecting to it were a PAIN and just did not want to go on. Everything gets back together... one busts loose and coolant is draining out... Those hoses just don't want to "catch".
Hopefully we can get to them through the engine bay without the dash coming back out...
Just curious, has anyone converted over to a standard rubber hose with standard clamps? I'm thinking about doing this, and maybe even just bypassing the rear heater core. Does anyone see any problems with this or have any suggestions?

You probably broke an ear off of the nylon retainer clip. You can convert to conventional clamps, but it's gonna be difficult to get in there to tighten them and make sure that they're sealing well.

I'll order new clips and o-rings today from ford... anything else I should get along with those 2?
Grab a small tube of dielectric grease to lube the hoses and o-rings for reassembly. It's cheap, and makes it much easier to push the hoses onto the tubing.

Also in case anyone finds this thread in a search, I found a word document a guy on here put together. 97F150 was his name I believe... just trying to give credit as I did not put this file together. Search for the document.
